Exit Process

We provide full assistance in the exit process after the birth of your child. We work closely with your home country immigration attorney to ensure a seamless process for custody, citizenship, and safe return to your home country. The complete exit and entry process typically take between 3-4 weeks post-birth if you choose to leave the surrogate on the birth certificate, or 8-12 weeks post-birth if you opt for a post-birth order court case to obtain a Mexican Birth Certificate issued by vital records without the surrogate’s name.

Yes. Egg, sperm, and embryo donation are entirely legal in Mexico, and many IVF clinics offer these treatments to international patients. Eggspecting offers a variety of egg donation options, including local Mexican egg donors and foreign egg donors. Mexican clinics are well equipped and well-staffed. Many Mexico clinics will perform multiple embryo transfers at the intended parents’ request. Unlike many regions, Mexican clinics will also support gender selection.
Per the law in Mexico local donors can only be “anonymous”; however, with Eggspecting’s foreign donor programs we can send foreign donors to Mexico City to full cycle for you and with foreign donors you have the options of anonymous, semi known, or open/known cycles.

If you choose your donor through Eggspectings Database or our sister network databases, then its usually possible to zoom with your top donor candidates before final selection.
Yes. Eggspecting offers a premium surrogacy program in Mexico City with a US-based consultancy contract for intended parents’ peace of mind. In late 2021, the Supreme Court of Mexico declared surrogacy a protected medical procedure, The Supreme Court decision overturned the prohibition against surrogacy by individual states. As a result of the Court’s decision, no Mexican state can prohibit surrogacy allowing intended parents to be listed on their baby’s birth certificate upon birth in certain Mexican states. However, to date not all jurisdictions have adopted the Court’s directives. Even though surrogacy is protected by the Courts, some states have been slow to implement the mandate. As a result, surrogacy in Mexico is still only supported in select regions. Intended Parents should consider programs in these friendly jurisdictions. These states allow a “court case” that directs the birth certificate to be issued with the names of the Intended Parents. This is accomplished via judgment by the family court that directs vital records to issue the BC with only the intended Parents name. Eggspecting works exclusively in Mexico City, which has welcomed surrogacy programs and is friendly to intended parents.
Yes, Mexico City is a modern/first world and very comfortable city. Although Mexico has earned a reputation as a dangerous country in recent years this is primarily due to high crime and cartel activity in certain regions and mostly confined to border towns. Mexico City is one of the safer cities in Mexico. It is ranked as a far safer destination than popular tourist hotspots like Acapulco or Cancun. Crime rates in Mexico City are comparable to those of American cities like Chicago, New York, or St. Louis. Eggspecting works with doctors, clinics, and hospitals in Polanco and Condesa which are the more high-end areas of Mexico City. The central areas of Mexico City surrounding Chapultepec Park are particularly upscale and safe, with plenty of tourist destinations that are known to be safe and secure.
This is dependent upon the package that you choose. If you are shipping embryos to our clinic in Mexico City, you will only need to come to Mexico City once for the birth and baby pick up. If you are choosing a package with IVF then you will need to come to Mexico City once to deposit sperm and then again to pick up your baby at birth. However, you are welcome to come to Mexico City to attend any of your Surrogate’s medical appointments in person if you so choose.
8-14 days with the surrogate listed on BC and 6-12 weeks without. We recommend leaving the Surrogate on the BC in most cases and following the path to get your child’s birth certificate reissued in your home country with your names on it. (2nd Parent Adoption)
This varies for each individual journey, your choice in birth certificate options, and the wait times for your specific country’s embassy; however, the typical stay is between 3-4 weeks when factoring in time to receive the BC with apostille and time to receive your child’s passport if you are granted an urgent request or your embassy wait times are fast.
Mexico is the first international surrogacy location to be able to offer this option and our local legal team assists with the entire legal court process to have the Mexican birth certificate issued from vital records sans surrogate if requested. While our team has been 100% successful in achieving this outcome when desired, but the time frame of stay in Mexico is 6+ weeks. It is important to note that although we assist you, and the attorney is managing the case directly with the court, that neither we nor the attorney controls the final timeframe as we do not control nor influence the court schedules. Please note that there is a difference in having the BC issued for the first time from vital records sans surrogate and having it issued with surrogate and then going back later to remove her. The latter is called an amendment and we do not recommend this. If you want to pursue the MX BC sans surrogate, you must be patient and be prepared to stay in Mexico for up to 12 weeks (average is 8-9 weeks).
You will obtain citizenship for your child through your own citizenship of your birth country’s embassy. Ultimately it is your responsibility to work directly with your embassy on all citizenship and passport arrangements as we cannot do this for you nor attend any embassy appointments with you. However, we help prepare you for your appointment beforehand. We will also work alongside your home country immigration attorney (if applicable) to ensure smooth custody, citizenship, and entry home to your country.
Yes, your child is entitled to Mexican citizenship by birth; however, we work with our Intended Parents to obtain citizenship for their child from the country in which the Parents are citizens of/residents of for ease in travel. In rare cases where this would be difficult or non-attainable, we can get the child a Mexican passport.

Once pregnancy is established, the expenses primarily revolve around pregnancy care and birth, resulting in reduced costs. The bulk of the work and financial investment takes place in phase 1, encompassing fertility activities (including IVF and Egg Donor if creating embryos) and Surrogate preparation. As such, the initial preparation stage will always carry a higher expense due to the comprehensive range of activities involved.
